Experience Needed

DIY Art School, 2013

Experience Needed referred to a catch-22 phrase often encountered by recent graduates.  This group exhibition featured twenty-one art school graduates presenting a variety of practices including painting, drawing, performance, sculpture, photography, film and illustration. The week-long exhibition included live and unique occurrences for viewers to experience.

The work explored notions of identity, place, and rhythmic everyday occurrences that our bodies undergo such as shedding hair and skin. It aimed to touch upon the notion that we leave parts of ourselves, both physically and mentally, in the places that we visit and the journeys that we make.

As part of the exhibition I did a live drawing with liquid latex and invited viewers to experiment with this non-traditional drawing medium.
